New millions to collaboration for young people in exclusion

« This is about a very vulnerable group that ends up beside society, in an exclusion that risks being difficult to break, » said Social Minister Jakob Forssmed (KD) when presenting the assignment that the government now gives to MUCF.

According to Forssmed, a majority of people suffer from the target group of mental illness, not infrequently because they lack context and connection to society.

– This is a very complex challenge where it is required that society merge. Authorities, civil society and business must collaborate and we must achieve better results, Jakob Forssmed continued

The assignment to McUF is about strengthening the efforts that are already being made for the target group through better collaboration between the actors. This may include, for example, the Employment Service and the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, about companies, sports associations and schools. The purpose is to facilitate the young people to establish themselves in working and social life. MUCF is now named Sweden’s national resource for coordination and support with a special focus on the young.

– Particularly vulnerable are boys and young men who are over -represented in the group. They are lonely and more isolated are women and over half of them state that they have mental disorders, Forssmed said.

Then that too, According to the expertise, it is more difficult to reach the boys and men are included in the MUCF’s mission to do a special analysis of their situation, not least to discover what deficiencies exist in today’s system.

Forssmed also raises the investment in mental health and suicide prevention of just over 3.5 billion that the government previously announced. He believes that parts of that investment also have bearing on this group of young people.

In addition to the MUCF’s assignment presented, the government’s investment of 250 million, which will go to 15,000 summer jobs this year, is also raised.

– We are also investing broadly in more education places within the vocational college and in municipal adult education, added Minister of Labor and Integration Mats Persson (L)
