New Laws on Holiday Houses and Water Fees were submitted to the public information – Cyprus Newspaper
Municipalities (Amendment) Law and Holiday Houses Draft Law was published in the Official Gazette and presented to the public.
Municipalities (Amendment) The draft law aims to prevent municipalities from regulating water fees and prevent high water fees and different fees of each municipality. Accordingly, water fees will be arranged in a way that does not exceed the drinking water tariff determined by the Water Affairs Department, and the hourly fee will not exceed one month’s minimum wage.
Holiday Houses
Holiday Houses Law, on the other hand, foresees the record of the holiday houses rented to tourists, to be inspected and to increase tax revenues.
According to the bill, holiday homes will be registered by the tourism planning department and will receive a business permit. Maximum 10 people will be able to stay in holiday homes and minimum standards such as independent kitchens and bathrooms will be provided. Operating permit fees, according to the class of the holiday house, 7 to 15 percent of the minimum wage will be determined. Unregistered holiday house running up to 2 years imprisonment or heavy fines will be imposed.
Opinions and suggestions about the bills, within 20 days in writing to the Presidency of the Republican Assembly.
