New lane placed for the bus
The Road Administration has been granted construction permits for new lanes on a 400 meter section along the Kringlumýrarbraut to the south from the intersection of Háaleitisbraut and to Miklubraut. No changes will be made to the intersection itself. The central island will be reduced and remake, the current fence removed and will be installed in the central island.
At a meeting of the Reykjavik Planning Representative, it was agreed to issue licenses and offices of administration and quality assigned to issue it.
In the reply of Sigríður Inga Sigurðardóttir, a specialist in the Road Administration’s communication department, to the inquiry of Morgunblaðið, it is stated that the goal of the development of priority branches on the Kringlumýrarbraut is to enable buses to make their way to this section, regardless of other rounds.
Estimated traffic on the Kringlumýrarbraut in this area is about 30,000 vehicles/24 hours a total of north and south. As things stand now, the bus does not go there because the traffic is too slow during peak hours and there are no bus stations in these areas. Today, trolleys drive up the Miklubraut, past Kringla and then west along the Háaleitisbraut and then bends north of Kringlumýrarbraut.
Shorter travel time
When the priorities are taken advantage of, bus travel time will be shortened by up to 4-5 minutes on this route.
In the opinion of the project manager, the project manager states that the project is in accordance with the Reykjavík Municipal Plan 2040 on trunk lanes, defined main routes and general objectives for eco -friendly transport.
The construction permit is subject to the following conditions: It should be taken into account that the construction site is in the center of a residential area near blocks, on either side of the traffic traffic. Therefore, all rules and guidelines for working hours, labeling, noise and disturbance shall be respected on either side of the trunk and surrounding area so that the project causes as little disturbance/disturbance as possible.
It should also be ensured that the work area is neat due to its sensitive location.
Information signs must be installed at the construction site that describes the proposed implementation in a graphical way, as well as having information on construction time and contact, which can provide further information on the project itself.
Finally, the project manager says that efforts should be made to minimize negative effects as far as possible. It is important to prevent pollutants from being transmitted from construction, for example, caused by oil and other substances that can get rid of the environment during construction.
Construction shall be completed within the specified time and it is recalled that the construction permit will expire if construction has not begun within 12 months of its issuance.
The work was invited to March 21 and bids opened on April 8.
A total of five bids were received. The lowest invitation was D.ing – Verk ehf., Gardabaer, ISK 146,769,000. It was 88.5% of the budget, which amounted to just under 166 million. The second highest table was the Horticultural Service ehf., Reykjavik, just over 157 million.
Sigríður Inga says it is planned to enter into contracts with contractors in the coming days. Construction is scheduled to begin in mid -May and will be completed by August 15. Construction is proposed to take place over the summer or before traffic increases again after a summer vacation.
Traffic in several parts of the city has been equipped with lanes that give buses priority. It is done so that they can keep a plan.
