New information: Do not exclude further house searches

Jón Gunnar Þórhallsson, a police officer with the police in the South, says nothing can comment on the scenario that took place and led to the death of the man who was found dead in Gufunes on Tuesday morning.

The case is investigated as deprivation of liberty, blackmail and murder.

A police report earlier this evening said that house searches had been undertaken and cars were seized in connection with the investigation.

Jón Gunnar did not want to comment specifically if the police had managed to have potential money that may have been oppressed from the deceased.

« It's a thing I'm not going to comment on. »

Police to get an overview

On further house searches in connection with the case, Jón Gunnar says no such thing is, although it is impossible to say what the investigation leads to the police.

« We are naturally at an early stage even though so much work is done. We are getting an overview and it depends on what new information comes up whether we do it or not. There is nothing unlikely and quite possibility. «

Police announced earlier this evening that another man had been arrested in connection with the case. Jón Gunnar says new aspects come up in the investigation and information that the police must respond to. This applied to the arrest of the day.

Content from the public of all kinds

During the investigation, the police in the Southern Iceland have been assisted by the police offices in the capital area and the Suðurnes, as well as the office of the National Commissioner of Police and the District Prosecutor. Jón Gunnar says that assistance is of various kinds and that cooperation is still ongoing.

« For example, we enjoy the help of the police department in the capital area. »

Police have also enjoyed the public, but asked in more detail in that assistance, Jón Gunnar says, for example, people have given police suggestions on human travel, have reflected on the matter, delivered surveillance cameras from surveillance cameras and dashboard cameras in cars.

« It's really stuff of all kinds. »
