New fraud against EOPYY


ELAS proceeded to dismantle a criminal organization whose members committed criminal scam At the expense of EOPYY, through virtual prescription medicines. A large -scale police operation, which took place on Tuesday five members of the organization and two other people, were arrested in the case, while co -defendants are still 15.

They were filed against them for-where appropriate-the establishment, integration and direction of a criminal organization, false certificate-use of false certificates, fraudulent fraud and post-use forgery, continuous and profession at the expense of the Greek State and the Greek State. Issue of prescriptions and drug administration by a physician and pharmacist respectively, without the right to intervene in a personal data archive system, the knowledge of these data and use them, with a total benefit and corresponding damage exceeding 120,000 euros, money laundering and illegal possession.

As it became known by ELAS, a long -standing investigation by the Directorate of Financial Crimes of the Organized Crimes, in cooperation with EOPYY, revealed that the members of the organization, at least since July 2017, had set up and integrated into a criminal organization, Profession for the commitment of criminal offenses, forgery and false certificates against the National Health Services Agency, illegal processing of personal data, drug trafficking, as well as the legalization of revenue earned from their criminal activities.

The organization, according to Police, consisted of two pharmacy owners as leadership, a pharmacy officer, a physician and a general physician who was active in the areas of Attica and Corinthia, and had been established with a criminal outlook over time.

In particular, the members of the organization had developed a specific network, taking advantage of the existing organization of their individual entities (pharmacy, clinics), in order to identify AMKA, to prescribe false medications, to execute the prescriptions and then to trade.

More specifically, the defendants were carried out by doctors – members of the criminal organization in the systematic issuance of false prescriptions to AMKA mainly persons who had not activated the intangible prescription, with the result that the insured themselves were unable to find the false prescription.

Indeed, as noted in the announcement, in order to maximize their profits, they sought through the network they had created to use AMKA uninsured people, and often pumping the AMKA was carried out by insured persons who had visited the pharmacy in order to test.

Subsequently, through the already existing structure and organization of the pharmacy, the defendants carried out the virtual executions of the prescription, signing enforcement documents instead of the insured, falsifying their signatures, thereby succeeding EOPYY’s deception and their corresponding unlawful compensation.

False prescription drugs were characterized by a wide range, including drugs and other psychotropic substances, while further disposal of illegally prescribed pharmaceuticals were carried out through this pharmacy.

At the same time, an illegal activity of 13 administrators and a pharmacy official was identified, as well as 3 doctors, who respectively issued and executed virtual prescription of medicinal products, including drugs, causing a corresponding damage to EOPYY.

The ELAS survey found the false version of 33,962 recipes, while the organization’s damage exceeds 1,200,000 euros.

From the surveys conducted in houses, storage, clinics and pharmacies in various areas of Attica, they were found and seized, inter alia:

Over 17,300 packages of illegally prescribed medicinal products, including drugs containing drugs, a revolver and a pistol with a silencer, an air pistol with ampoule, hunting carbine, 51 cartridges,

The detainees were taken to the competent prosecutor’s office.
