The federal savings program is affected by the cantons. It shows that the federal payments to the cantons have risen sharply in recent years. These are unimpressed – and give the Federal Council household tips.
The conference of the cantons (KDK) is against the federal savings program. The federal government should not save at the expense of the cantons, is the core of criticism. Such load shifts are a zero -sum game for taxpayers, according to a letter from the cantons to the Federal Council.
As a reminder: the federal government has two financial cracks. The expenses for the AHV and the army will grow very strongly in the next few years. From 2027, deficits will face more than two billion francs. That is why the federal government has defined 59 austerity measures. The expenditure growth is to be throttled.
This has consequences for the cantons. Because the federal government is a big instantaneous water heater. The cantons receive 30 percent of the funds that the federal government outputs.
