New electricity and gas prices: all you need to know

Since July, public electricity prices will decrease slightly and the gas will remain the same. The regulator has approved new rates this week.

« It has long been so that it should not be recalculated and adjusted in the middle of the year, » said Renat Pocius, a translator.

The electric market seems to be settled. There are no significant price fluctuations, and electricity taxes are not changed. Lithuania also produces more energy itself.

« Currently, Lithuania produces about 84 percent of its need, and last year we only met 61-62 % of its need, » said Agnė Bagočiutė, Head of the Lithuanian Energy Agency.

Public electricity supply rates will look like this from July:

The price of a « standard » one -time area per kilowatt -hour will continue to be 20.5 cents. Two -time zones will cheap a night rate. True, just 0.1 cents per kilowatt -hour, so the monthly account is influenced by little.

« This is relevant about a million electricity consumers who could have a public electricity rate. As you know, the parliament has confirmed the amendments to those consuming up to 1,000 kWh to return to public supply, » the interpreted chairman explained.

Whoever uses gas to make food will continue to pay 99 cents per cubic meter from July and 69 cents for home heating.

« We see stable prices for a while, ranging from 30 euros per megawatt -hour, » explained the head of the Lithuanian Energy Agency.

If not in prices, there will be changes in electric accounts. From June, electricity suppliers will have to show not only their existing but also cheaper plans.

« What is the final price currently valid. The same plan, what price is now offered, the lowest price the supplier offers the market at all at the moment, » said Enefit Board member Žana Klusovskienė.

The first detailed accounts will receive July. Not all suppliers are willing to roll up their sleeves, talking about additional costs.

« It will require some investment, » said Ž. Klusovskienė.

« These extra costs are emerging, but consumers will save significantly higher amounts. Those costs will be minimal if it comes, » Pocius emphasized.

« We will implement planned changes, preparation work is underway, we are working hard with the institutions, » said Neringa Kolkaitė-Bielinis, a spokeswoman for Elektrum Lietuva.

It is important to know about a lower price for as much as half a million inhabitants. So much is still paying too much for electricity.

« If the consumer pays 30 cents and could pay 23 cents, let’s imagine it – could save 21 euros just by changing the plan, » Pocius said.

The trouble is that people choose a plan and forget. Only one -tenth is actively comparing what the suppliers offer and which are cheaper.

« Residents are reluctant to analyze the accounts provided for the electricity consumed because of its own complexity, » said a spokeswoman for Elektrum Lietuva.

The Energy Agency is calling for a lower price, not to change contracts without checking the taxes applied by other suppliers.

« Watch not only what tariffs are offered by independent suppliers, but also on the subscription fees, as it can influence the final price paid, » said A. Bagočiūtė.

According to A. Bagočiūtė, one supplier did not change the monthly fee. However, others reviewed and asked for between € 1 and € 3.
