New actions need to improve the security of traffic

Unfortunately, when motorcyclists drive into traffic, they are markedly over -represented in the accident statistics. In 6 out of 10 accidents where a motorcyclist is seriously injured, there is another road user involved, and in some of these accidents a neon -colored helmet could make a difference to whether you are seen by other road users.

Therefore, the Council for Safe Traffic, Motorcycle is negotiating the Association and the MCTC – National Association for Motorcyclists now with the visibility campaign « Which helmet did you see first? »

It writes the Council for Safe Traffic in one press release.

The new campaign encourages motorcyclists to buy a neon -colored helmet that makes them more visible so that they are not overlooked by other road users.

We know that motorcyclists’ visibility is important to their safety, which is why we are now calling for more people to buy a neon-colored helmet in yellow, green or orange, which makes them extra visible in traffic and makes their two wheel turn more secure, says Jakob Bøving Arendt, CEO of the Council for Safe Traffic.

When motorcyclists are injured in accidents where there was also another road user involved, inattention, lack of orientation and excessive speed is often crucial factors.

Responsible motorcyclists

In the Council for Safe Traffic National Helmet Count, it is clear that the motorcyclists have understood the importance of using a helmet. By 2024, 99.7 percent of the observed motorcyclists used a helmet. This is equivalent to the fact that there was only one motorcyclist without a helmet out of 368 motorcyclists in the study.

We are pleased that the motorcyclists are taking the safety equipment seriously, because if things go wrong, correct equipment is decisive for how serious the accident becomes. We would like more people to use a neon -colored helmet, because we want to make sure that as few as possible are injured in our motorcycle community, says Hans Jørgen Hansen, director of the MCTC National Association for Motorcyclists, which has over 30,000 members in Denmark.

In the 2024 survey, it was also found that it was 13 percent of the motorcyclists who used a pang -colored helmet. Here there is an improvement potential where motorcyclists can improve their safety in traffic themselves.

We recommend that many motorcyclists will follow the call and replace the old – black – helmet with a pang -colored helmet that you can easily see in traffic. Of course, the motorcycle clothing must sit comfortably, be safe and look good, and if we can make the trip safer with the correct helmet, then we have lifted the safety of the motorcyclists, says Martin Vølund, project manager in the motorcycle negotiating association.

The neon colors are also called pang colors, fluorescent colors or luminescent colors. These are strong colors such as Neongul, Neonorange and Neon Green. The strong yellow, orange and green colors are precisely the ones that our eyes are most sensitive to. So we automatically pay more attention to them in traffic.
