A new 24 -hour track strike started on Monday evening at 10 p.m. It is already the twentieth strike day this year at the track. Two in the five IC trains, three in five L and S trains and four in the five P-trains will not run on Tuesday. There is also an impact for international train traffic.

Initially, the strike was only based on the large trade unions ACOD Spoor and ACV transcom, but later the VSOA Spoor, OVS and ASTB trade unions also joined. The NMBS again worked out an alternative train service based on the working person staff. Travelers can see in the route planner which trains will run.

In the Ottignies region, no train will run from Monday 10 pm to Tuesday because the Seinhuis in Namen can only work partially. In 86 stopping places, no trains will stop at all during the strike.

There is also an impact for international train traffic. For example, a number of ICE trains between Cologne and Brussels will not run, just like a number of Eurostar trains between Brussels and Paris. A number of trains to and from the Netherlands (Eurocity and Eurocity Direct) will not run either. Eurostar expects normal traffic between Brussels and London.

Retirement age

The trade unions protest against measures that the federal government is planning, such as an increase in retirement age, more flexibility for the railway employees, savings at the railway and a reform of HR Rail, the legal employer of rail staff. According to the unions, the interventions will also have consequences for services to travelers. For example, the Coalition Agreement shows the possibility of closing few used stops.

The five rail unions (without Metispprotect) also want to stop the following Tuesdays in April: 15, 22 and 29 April.
