Never the same good enough for nsr
NSR says you are Sami enough – after even starting the pursuit of those who are allegedly not. When they are in danger of losing power, they talk about trust and fellowship. When they have power, they investigate who is « real enough ».
« You are Sami enough, and you should be heard, » NSR said in his new campaign on social media. But they only say it now – after spending years suggesting the opposite.
It was NSR who lit the spark. From the Sami Parliament’s pulpit, Sami President Silje Karine Muotka personally asked for the investigation of the Sami Parliament’s elections – that is, who should really be allowed to participate in Sami democracy. And their own parliamentary leader, Beaska Niilas, followed up in Dagsnytt 18 by announcing that people should be thrown out of the census.
The pursuit of the « fake Sami » was underway, and NRK Sápmi threw himself. People who had lived Sami lives have been approved by the Sami Parliament and done everything right, were hung out – based on political signals from NSR, the Labor Party and the Center Party.
Stopped by noise – not of principle One of the most grotesque examples came when Sandra Borch, former Minister of State and proudly the same, was defined as « false same » by NRK – on all sending surfaces. It wasn’t random. In the Sami Parliament’s own order for Telemark Research, Borch was referred to as « a constructed same ». The NSR-led Sami Parliament set the premise. Media followed up.
The investigation assignment was stopped – not because NSR, Ap or Sp took a principled position, but because the Northern Calotte people made enough noise to stop it. And yet, none of them has said what it takes: That it is completely out of the question to examine the census – now and in the future. The investigation was paused, not shelved. It was pushed aside, not regretted. We are still waiting for the words: This will never happen again!
For eight years, NSR and Sp have contributed to weakening rights for resident Sami in the outfield, hindering development in coastal communities and ignoring the Kven as part of our common cultural heritage.
They say « you should be heard », but refused to recognize Kven place names in Karasjok – even though the church site was founded by Kven.
Many of us are both Sami and Kven – but it does not fit into NSR’s worldview. As is also not the case to be both the same and advocates for more business activities in Sami areas.
We build – they sort the Northern Calotte people stand for equality – not as a slogan, but as a pillar of everything we do.
We want to develop all the Sami communities – from fjord to width – and facilitate modern Sami lives, where language, culture and tradition can flourish. Whether you speak Sami, Kven or Norwegian. Whether you live in the shoreline, in the mountains or in the city. Whether you go with a pie every day, or never.
We build the Sami community and the future – while NSR sorts.
And it must be said loudly: When NSR says that « you are Sami enough, » they say it only because it is election campaign. If you give them the power again, they will continue to examine if you are the same good enough.
