Netherlands: Found corpses when looking for children

When looking for the two missing children in the northeast of the Netherlands, the police found a car with several bodies. A police spokesman told the ANP news agency that one had to expect « that it can be Jeffrey and Emma ».

The two children, Jeffrey (10) and Emma (8), were probably kidnapped by their father (67). The police had feared that they were in mortal danger after a letter from the father had been found.

Found car in the water

So far, the police spokesman has not been able to say how many corpses are found. The car had been found in the water at the town. It is a comparable model, like the father’s searched car. The car is now carefully brought out of the water and examined, the spokesman said. As soon as the corpses are identified, the relatives would be informed.

Winschofen is located east of Groningen about 15 kilometers from the German border. The father’s car was last seen there on Saturday.

Feverish search

Since Sunday, the children had been searched feverishly with a large contingent, including with dog squadrons, boats, a helicopter and special search teams. The police did not rule out that the father had driven the children into nearby Lower Saxony.

On Tuesday, the police in East Frisia asked the population for clues and switched on an extra notice telephone.

Man left letter

The children were taken from the village in a gray Toyota on Saturday afternoon. According to police, the 67 -year -old man had left a letter that indicates that he wanted to take the children and himself. The parents of the children live separately according to witnesses, the children should spend the weekend with their father.
