NCSR: Awarding the Athens Medical School for its contribution to the repatriation
As we continue to see new and new graduates of Greek universities seeking their luck abroad, reinforcing the phenomenon we used to call brain drain, the public university is emerging as a key body that can contribute to the repatriation. This at least shows the example of the NCSR/
During the annual conference of the Agency Brainregain The President of the Medical School, Professor Nikolaos Arkadopoulos, received the honor of the « Ambassador of Greek Doctors from the External Year of 2024 ».
The distinction was attributed to the belief in the human capital of Greece and the dynamic contribution of the Nursing School of Medicine to the return of Greek doctors to the homeland.
The Medical School was the only public organization awarded for its contribution to the repatriation of brilliant scientists from abroad in 2024.
The repatriation of scientists became possible thanks to the large number of faculty positions announced for the Medical School of the EKPA by the Ministries of Health and Education.
Thanks to these positions and after a rigorous process of election between hundreds of candidates it was possible to repatriate more than 20 distinguished Greek scientists abroad, who held important positions in major academic institutions in Europe and America.
The Medical School of the University of Athens, with its 187 years of history and contribution to health and education, faithful to the principles of excellence and meritocracy once again a pole of attraction not only top students but also leading Greek scientists from around the world.
