NATO: The Dayton Agreement in BiH must be respected
NATO is concerned about the latest developments of the event in Bosnia and Herzegovina, warns that the Dayton Peace Agreement must be respected as well as the powers of a high representative in that country, NATO’s deputy Secretary General, Radmila Šekerin, said on Tuesday.
« We are still concerned about the latest events in Bosnia and Herzegovina. NATO strongly supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina in accordance with the Dayton Peace Agreement, » said Šekerine ahead of the North Atlantic Council meeting (NAC), comprised of Ambassadors of NATO Member States.
Denis Bećirović, Željko Komsic and Zeljka Cvijanovic are invited to the NAC meeting, which will discuss the situation in BiH.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is facing the constitutional crisis after the leader of Bosnian Serbs, Milorad Dodik, was issued an arrest warrant and a one -month custody after refusing to respond to the prosecutor’s invitation to hed as part of the investigation for the attempt to demolish the constitutional order.
Subsequently, the authorities of the Republika Srpska brought extent to the authority of state institutions in the area of the entity.
« The Dayton Peace Agreement must be obeyed, it is the cornerstone of the stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s state architecture. Second, the constitutional order in Bosnia and Herzegovina must be respected. We will not accept any safety vacuum in Bosnia and Herzegovina and will not allow the difficult peace to be threatened, » said Šekerin.
She added that NATO is ready for further consolidation of cooperation with BiH through the implementation of its program for the construction of defense capacity, through the daily efforts of its headquarters in Sarajevo, through close cooperation with international partners, including EU Althea surgery, which it continues to support through its arrangement by Berlin Plus and through cooperation with the High Representative.
