NATO has been investigated for corruption and leakage of information
Current and former NATO employees have been investigated for corruption and money laundering, the Belgian prosecutor’s office said, where the Alliance headquarters is based.
The Federal Prosecutor’s Office said on Wednesday that as part of an investigation into a criminal organization, corruption and money laundering, police arrested and questioned two suspects in Belgium on Monday. One remains in custody and the other is released.
Investigation of irregularities is being conducted in Luxembourg and Spain and in the Netherlands. It focuses on possible irregularities in the award of NATO contracts for ammunition and drones, for the possible transmission of confidential information from employees of NATO -based support and public contracting agency (NSPA).

Belgian prosecutors added that several former or current agency officials may have been involved and that there are indications that the money received from illegal practices was washed, in part by creating consulting companies.
They added that NATO cooperates with investigations.
A NATO spokesman said that, thanks to an investigation started by NSPA, law enforcement agencies in a number of countries have arrested several persons accused of corruption activities related to NATO contracts.
