Nations League: DFB women celebrate 6-1 victory against Scotland

Less than three months before the European Championship, the German footballers against Scotland woke up again – but in the end they cheered over three goals from Selina Cerci and a win. Christian Wück’s team came to a 6: 1 (0: 1) in the Nations League in Wolfsburg in Wolfsburg, but showed a very weak first half again.

Before 16.102 spectators in the Volkswagen Arena hit Selina Cerci (51st, 56th and 76th minute) from TSG Hoffenheim three times and Giovanna Hoffmann (63./65.) By RB Leipzig twice after the break. Frankfurt’s Laura also scored a hit (67th).

Scottid women are ahead at the break

Caroline Weir had given the guest team, which could not qualify for the European Championship, (40th). Four days after the 4-0 in Dundee against the Scottish women, the DFB women did not get going for a long time.

Nevertheless, the Olympic third won the third game in the fourth game of the competition at the end. With this, the German footballers defended the league leadership of the group A1. Before the European Championship in Switzerland (July 2 to 27), Wück now has only two games to bring his selection in shape: against the Netherlands on May 20 in Bremen and in Austria on June 3.

Wück gives trio for free access new chance

It was the first international match between German women in the VW city after the World Cup quarter-final out of 2011 against the later title winner Japan. In the starting XI with Jule Brand and Janina Minge only two players from VfL Wolfsburg. MINGE convinced as a resolute defense chief.

Wück had changed his team to three positions as announced: For Linda Dallmann, Klara Bühl and Sjoeke Nüsken, Freiahn, Sydney Lohmann and Cerci ran in midfield. The game ran past a long time

As in the first leg in Scotland, the DFB women initially struggled to the front extremely difficult. The last pass missed more often, and the Frankfurt freestyle was also too little involved as a playmaker. Lohmann and Brand in particular tried to increase the pressure on the offensive – but until the break, the hosts did not record a single chance of scoring. Munich’s scorer Lea Schüller also remained pale and had to make room for Giovanna Hoffmann in the second round.

On the other hand, the Scottish and Weir took their opportunity when Berger couldn’t get a cross from Kirsty Hansson and could not hit the ball. Captain Giulia Gwinn and Co. disappeared into the cabin quite a bit.

Conciliatory result

A header from the Leipzig Hoffmann on the post was the start signal. After a gwinn corner, Cerci headed to compensate before Hoffmann’s header jumped onto the crossbar and cerci dust for 2-1. Shortly afterwards, Hoffmann pushed the ball over the goal line twice within two minutes. Free access and again cerci increased again.
