National Council rejects half -time initiative – shared opinions in a party
National Council rejects the semi -ization initiative – but surprisingly many parliamentarians of a party stand against the SRG
The National Council does not want to reduce the media tax to 200 francs. Opinions are shared in a faction.
With 116 against 74 votes, the National Council recommended the halving initiative for rejection. The referendum wants to reduce media levy for private households from CHF 335 to CHF 200 per year; In addition, all companies in Switzerland should be completely exempt from the levy.
The SVP parliamentary group spoke out for the initiative. The opinions were shared among FDP parliamentarians: 15 of them voted against the template, 10 for it. Among them are the national councils Marcel Dobler, Hans-Peter Portmann, Peter Schilliger, Daniela Schneeberger and Christian Wasserfallen.
Parliament does not bring about a counter -proposal
The Jungfreiensigen had collected signatures together with the SVP and the trade association. Nevertheless, it is a surprise that not only isolated FDP national councilors support the SRG-critical initiative, but around a third of the faction.
Applications for counter -proposals for the halving initiative had no chance in the large chamber. The Federal Council has decided to counter -measure at the prescription level: the media tax is to drop to CHF 300 by 2029; 80 percent of companies do not have to pay a levy in the future.
