– National control is required
The Center Party rides our fad about national control with pride. Not because it is a happy symbolic marking, but because we believe that national control is a real -political necessity. Currently, this is especially true of the current market, where the combination of unstable European power generation, unregulated exports of Norwegian power, and the constant humility to the EU, neither helps ordinary people nor Norwegian jobs.
Power is not any commodity, it is a fundamental part of our infrastructure and preparedness. The power is the basis for much of the Norwegian industry, and thus very many jobs in the country. Hydropower has historically given us stable access to electricity at a reasonable price, in favor of people and jobs. But with the combination of increasingly closer EU connection and foreign cables we are not allowed to regulate, we have lost control of our own current. Power prices in Norway are no longer a result of Norwegian conditions, but a weak European energy policy.
Statnett must build more networks in Norway, rather than investigating new foreign cables to Denmark. It is time to rebuild an energy policy based on national interests, not the consideration of the EU and the threat of their customs walls.
The Labor Party believes that three Energy Directive, which according to them does not change on Norwegian conditions, must be implemented to satisfy the EU and avoid customs. At the same time, it is recognized that the last five acts in the 4th energy market package will have major effects for Norway, but these are probably not important for the relationship with the EU. This reasoning appears spontaneous rather than anything lasting or principled. Ap is serving an imminent danger to EU toll, and the need for more EU affiliation is lifted as often as possible. There is little talk about realities that the close cooperation between the EU and Norway, and how important Norwegian critical ingredients are for EU countries to renovate and manage without Russian metals.
We in the Center Party fought for national control over the current market in government, and we were willing to step down for this matter. Now we continue to fight for these issues at the Storting. For national control and political governance is not just fad horses, it is absolutely necessary.
