The National Consultation at supermarket chain Lidl Tuesday has yielded little. According to ACV Puls, the largest trade union within Lidl, the proposal that the management presented is more than insufficient. The trade union is planting personnel meetings and does not exclude new promotions.

Last week the staff at Lidl blocked the distribution centers in Sint-Niklaas (East Flanders), Gullegem (West Flanders), Genk (Limburg), La Louvière (Hainaut) and Marche-en-Famenne (Luxembourg). With that action, the trade unions wanted to give a clear signal that the workload in the stores can no longer be kept. According to ACV Puls, among other things, it concerns uncertain work schedules and overtime hours, a high staff turnover and absenteeism, insecurity and aggression, but also structurally under -bemanded stores and students that are counted as full -time forces.
ACV Puls demanded that the management on Tuesday, at the National Consultation, would come up with a concrete plan to improve the situation. But that meeting did not produce the rejected result. According to trade unionist Kevin Kiggen (ACV Puls), the supermarket chain has no solution for four fifths of the stores and only a « mini solution » for one fifth of the other stores. « So four in five stores remain in the cold. »
The trade union is planting personnel meetings. When exactly is not yet clear. « What the reaction of the staff will be is difficult to predict, » says Kiggen. ACV Puls does not exclude new promotions.
