Natalia Intotero, message from the Patriarchate Palace
In a constantly changing society, in the face of successive crises and ideologies for which there are no universal values, faith remains a resource of stability, meaning and hope, says the interim Minister of Culture, Natalia Intotero.
Natalia Intotero participated, on Wednesday, at the Patriarchate Palace, at the opening of the International Symposium of Theology organized by the Romanian Patriarchate, under the sign of the triple anniversary: 1,700 years from the first Ecumenical Synod, 140 years of autocephaly of the Romanian Orthodox Church and the Centenary Year of the Romanian Patriarchate.
In his message, Natalia Intotero emphasized the fundamental role that Christian values had in the foundation of Europe, contributing to the definition of culture, education, art and to affirming human dignity.
« These values, springing from the Gospel, have been to the foundation of law, freedom and collective consciousness, offering the world a model of unity and cohesion, even in times of test, » said the minister.
According to Natalia Intotero, we are at an anniversary moment that brings together, in a deeply symbolic way, the universal dimension of the Church and the national dimension of Romanian Orthodoxy, thus placing our faith, culture and identity in a new light, but deeply anchored in tradition.
‘This connection between faith and culture is not only historical, but deeply alive. Without a liturgy, we would not have had a literary language. Without churches and monasteries, we would have had no written culture. Without clergy, monks and laity involved responsibly in the life of the Church, we would have had neither Christian education, nor moral models for society ‘, Intotero emphasized.
The minister also showed that ‘in an uneasy Europe, we need more than ever to reaffirm that freedom always involves responsibility, and the truth is not negotiated, but lives and speaks with dignity’.
‘The three events commemorated in 2025 represent foundation stones of a Christian civilization and, at the same time, of a national consciousness. From its beginnings until now, the path of Romanian Orthodoxy remains one of fidelity, constant confession and renewal at the same time, « said Natalia Intotero.
The event brought together prominent personalities of religious, academic and cultural life: the patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, the Most Blessed Father Daniel, Gianfranco Ghirlanda SJ, cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church, the apostolic wedding in Romania, Mons. Giampiero Gloder, president of the Romanian Academy, acad. Ioan-Aurel Pop, Secretary of State for Cults Ciprian Vasile Olinici, rector of the University of Bucharest, prof. Dr. Marian Preda, high hierarchs of the Romanian Orthodox Church, guests from the country and abroad. A
