Narva in three dimensions: 3wave studio occupies an empty niche in Narva (supplemented)
In the historical building of the Krenholm Manufactory in Narva, a unique 3D and multimedia Studio 3wavedesigned to develop the digital creative sector of Ida-Virumaa and stimulate the emergence of new startups in the region.
The founders of the studio, Alexei Ivanov and Dmitry Shutov, see in Narva great potential for creating modern visual technologies and putting them into the global market. “In Ida-Virumaa, the film industry is actively developing, and the need for qualified specialists in visual technologies is growing. At the same time, the unemployment rate in the region remains high, and many local residents have technical skills-they can find themselves in the fast-growing field of 3D technologies, ”said Alexei Ivanov.
Dmitry Shutov added that Narva also has significant potential to become a game development center. “At the moment, development is limited by the lack of qualified specialists, but 3wave is just striving to make up for this gap,” he said.
The first focus on the gaming industry
Games development is a modern industry that does not require (mainly) the presence of an employee in a particular office. A fair amount of routine work-for example, drawing a huge number of 3D models of various items filling the game world-can be made from anywhere in the world.
“Moreover, everyone can find creative work for themselves-someone likes to draw models of equipment, someone can engage in interiors, so on. All this always remains in demand,” Shutov added.
The opening of the multimedia studio was supported by Startup Estonia as part of the Ida-Virumaa development program. The head of the regional development projects Startup Estonia, Elina Dubova noted that Ida-Virumaa is in many ways an ideal place to launch such an initiative. “The goal of Startup Estonia is to strengthen the startup community outside of large cities, such as Tallinn and Tartu, and I am very glad that the inhabitants of Ida-Virumaa had a unique opportunity to gain valuable knowledge, practical experience and healthy contacts in such a promising field as visual technologies. I hope that 3wave studio will give an impetus to the emergence of new startups in the region, ”said Dubova.
Vast field for activities
Interest in the new undertaking is manifested by both students and figures of various creative industries.
“We have plans to develop cooperation with Kino-Industry, which is rapidly developing in Ida-Virumaa. 3D modeling specialists are appreciated high, but they are practically not prepared in Ida-Viruma. In our region there is their shortage,” added Alexei Ivanov.
The purpose of the 3wave studio is to prepare a new generation of creative specialists in the field of visual technologies. A long-term task is to support the formation of a professional community in Narva, capable of developing and implementing high-quality 3D projects for games, cinema and other areas of multimedia.
The center will conduct intensive 3D modeling courses and digital visualization, focused on both specialists of creative industries and people who want to retrain and start a career in a new fast-growing field. In addition, this year, 3wave studio organizes a number of free events, such as master classes, open lectures, Portfolio development days and the final gala member, on which the projects of the program participants will be presented.
The first students are already at the desks
“At the moment, we have launched the first stream of a 3D modeling course. The interest in it was immediately very high. Now 10 people are training in the group. The program is designed for 3 months and quite saturated. According to the successful completion of the course, the student will be able to think about some particular specialization,” says Shutov.
As part of the course, students will also be introduced to related areas. By the methods of building models of real objects, processing and bringing them to mind using various software packages.
“Here, many different technologies are used – a three -dimensional model of the building or, for example, a monument, you can get a drone with a laser range finder, or even with a smartphone – simply taking a large number of photos of an interest of an interest. Then raw data are processed, optimized and provided to the final user in a convenient and affordable format,” Shutov explains.
At the moment, 3wave studio is developing additional courses, for example, a course of developing computer games and programming.
“We will launch new courses and flows as programs and teachers are ready. Now it’s too early to talk about accurate dates, but all this will happen in the near future. You can follow the project’s news on our website 3wave.xyz and on the official page on Facebook (3wave)”, The jokes are getting.
The project is implemented in cooperation with partners such as IDA Hub, Gamedev Estonia, Viru Filmifond And Startup Estonia.
Startup Estonia -This is the state program for the development of the Estonian startup extractant, which gives an impetus to the emergence of startups and international success stories. The Startup Estonia program is conducted by EtTEVYTLUSE JA Innovatsiooni Sihtasutus. The Startup Estonia program is funded from the European Union
