In the fall, the Narv College of Tartu University will begin training according to the new master’s program “Robotics and the application of the science of data”, the purpose of which is to prepare specialists in making decisions based on technology and data. To maintain the educational process, the college will create a class of robotics and the Robokoda scientific laboratory, designed to provide services to entrepreneurs.

The innovative master’s program is aimed at teaching practical skills in the field of robotics systems, machine learning and data analysis. The curriculum is based on intensive design training and cooperation with local enterprises.

Graduates of the curriculum will be able to develop smart devices and manage them, create industrial applications, use artificial intelligence, and use data collection and analysis. The structure of the program provides a balance between theoretical knowledge and practical experience: students will have the opportunity to practice at Ida-Virumaa enterprises or increase their professional level abroad.

According to the director of the Narv College, the Indrek of Reimand, Ida-Virumaa needs a more diverse environment for entrepreneurial activity, and the inhabitants of the region do not have enough technological skills. “The Narva College has been offering IT and entrepreneurial activity for years. Now we have been taking the next step – we are combining the best knowledge of the scientists of the University of Tartu and the vision of the county entrepreneurs to find solutions to real problems,” Raimand explained.

To strengthen the practical direction of the educational process in the Narv College, a modern class of robotics and Robokoda will be opened – a scientific laboratory, which, in addition to scientific work, will be used to solve the practical problems of enterprises. New technologies will be developed in the laboratory, scientifically based consultations, testing services will be offered, and the opportunity will also be available to use scientific equipment in projects for the development of enterprises.

Scientists and students in cooperation with enterprises will develop new solutions or support the scientific validation of existing developments. Students have the opportunity to connect their master’s work with the solution of a practical entrepreneurial problem through the Robokoda laboratory.

The new master’s program is accepted by 21 students. The application can be submitted in the SAIS system until July 1.

The construction of Robokoda begins on May 15, and the provision of services for entrepreneurs will begin at the beginning of the new school year.
