Narva arrows won medals at the Estonian Championship and are preparing for the European championship
On February 22 and 23, the Estonian Championship in pneumatic weapons was held in the sports center of the city of Saku. The competition was attended by students and graduates of the Narva Sports School « Paemurra ».
The path to the gold medal included two stages: the qualifications of 60 shots and the final, which took place eight best athletes. The final stage began with the ground of previous results, so even the qualification leader did not have a guarantee for victory.
Narva arrows reached three finals of four, but not everyone managed to win medals. In shooting from a pneumatic rifle among men, Konstantin Loginov took the fourth place in qualifications, but in the final he sank to the sixth line. Nevertheless, the team consisting of Konstantin Loginov, Kirill Mishchenko and Vladislav Lushin won bronze medals, ahead of the pimarn by only 0.4 points.
The final in shooting from a pneumatic rifle among women has become the most intense. Five Narvityans, two representatives of Elva and Susanna Sule from Kayu, went to the finals at once. The leader of the qualification of Susanna Sule failed to do excellently and dropped out on the first shots. By the middle of the final, the struggle for gold was fought by Narvityan Katrin Smirnov and Marlene Riisar from Elva, and the rest of the finalists fought for the bronze. In this struggle, Anastasia Olevich won. Barbara Rogaten took the fourth place, Valeria Machel – the fifth, Ekaterina Isachenkova – the seventh.
The main duel of the finals kept the audience in suspense to the last shot. Before the penultimate gap, Marlene Riisaar was ahead of Katrin Smirnov by 0.2 points. Catherine was able to equalize the score, but in a decisive shot, its result is 10.1, and Marlene has 10.2. Thus, the champion of Estonia of 2025 was Marlene Riisar. However, Katrin Smirnova also won the champion title – as part of the team along with Valeria Machel and Anastasia Olevich. The second place in the team stand was taken by the Narvites Varvara Rogaten, Ekaterina Isachenkova and Alexander Boyarchuk.
The Estonian Championship was the last rehearsal before the European Championship, which will be held in Croatia from March 1 to March 15, 2025. Our city at international competitions will be represented by Anastasia Olevich and Varvara Rogaten.
