This year the translator from Ukrainian to Finnay Ero Balka rewarded for the translation of the novel Eugene Kuznetsova « ladder » (Old Lion Publishing House, 2023). Last year, the beam was included in the short list of Drahomán Prize for the translation of Sergei Rudenko’s book « Fight for Kiev ».

”This book shows that Ukrainians think about war and Russian narratives that we do not hear abroad. Everyone sympathizes with Ukrainians, but do not understand what to do with the Russians. And the characters in this book everyone knows what to do with them. So this translation is a little more popularized by Ukrainian literature and culture in Finland“ – said Ero Balk He added that he would transfer his monetary reward in support of the Ukrainian army.

The translator could not personally visit the ceremony, so the reward was received by a journalist and a cultural manager Natalia Terama (Dmitrenko).
