The 7.7 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale that hit Myanmar yesterday released energy equal to 334 atomic bombs-geologist Jess Phoenix told CNN.

South Korea has announced it will provide $ 2 million in initial aid to Myanmar through international organizations.

The bloc of Southeast Asian countries, Asan, said today that it has recognized the urgent need for humanitarian aid to Myanmar after a major earthquake and is ready to support efforts to recover.

And the United States, in addition to tense relations with the junta in Myanmar, announced that they would provide some help.
