My face speaks … very loud
The older you get, the more you learn to keep your mouth at the right moment. At least if the context or the people present require it. It is still difficult for me to have a filter, but at least I usually have my vocabulary under control at the right moments if my face wasn’t.
I just can’t change it. Not a single sound leaves my mouth, but the message in my head shoots my counterpart as if there was no tomorrow and crashes into him with unspeakable force. I just don’t have my facial expressions under control.
I really became aware of this when I discovered photos of myself when I took part in various events. « Keep your poker face, » I said in my mind – knowing that I have none – when I saw a modern dance performance at a vernissage, which in my eyes could hardly be outbid in bizarre. Maybe I just didn’t understand it either.
I have to admit that my facial expressions will slip over and over again.
I feel my nose and quickly relax my facial features, only at seconds later the eyebrows to pull together at an extremely skeptical and questioning look. « Do you like it? », It sounds next to me. I smile kindly, refrain from the desperate laugh that I would actually rather emit and say: « Yes, it’s great! »
Poetry between « Bounschlupp » and « Dreckskëscht »
« Your face says something else, » replies the person with a smile – and again I have to admit that my facial expressions will slip again and again. No willpower helps – as the snapshots prove later, the sight of which I was still having fun.
From the life of the LW journalists
The “gazettchen” is an informal column in which the authors legally tell about their everyday experiences or even give an insight into their thoughts. This has a long tradition: On December 3, 1946, an opinion with the title « Today » appears for the first time at the top of the side left on the first local side in the « Luxemburger Word ». On January 13, 1971, the « Gazettchen », which has been extremely popular with readers, then became the « gazette », which has kept its Premium-Platz in Luxembourg’s top-class daily newspaper to this day and across all layout.
