Must help others in the same place

Esben Dalgaard has for a long time carried around a desire to try his hand at the Workout Role.

That desire now becomes reality as he enters the role of front figure for a new DR program that focuses on people living with death as close terms.

This is what DR revealed this earlier today in a post on Instagram, where he, together with DR, is looking for participants who are in this particular situation – people who want to leave something special for their loved ones while time is.

In conversation with Look and hear the purpose of the Esben program. Helping incurably sick saying thank you, creating memories and leaving something meaningful. It is not about big arm movements, but about closeness, words and experiences that extend beyond the end of life.

« We are looking for some fates where death has moved closer. When you are in such a situation, you naturally think about what you leave to your relatives, and a strong memory can be really nice to leave to his loved ones, » he says, emphasizing that it can be small, translucent dreams.

Can draw parallels to his own life.

Esben Dalgaard talks openly about how his own cancer diagnosis of 2021 has affected him and given him a new insight into both illness and relationships.

He even remembers how he felt overwhelmed by the warmth and care he was greeted with in the hospital – and how he needed to give something back.

That’s why he brought a box of chocolate to the staff.

This particular human experience believes he can be a strength in the troll.

In addition to the personal and human aspect, the program also has a more general purpose of breaking down the Danes’ anxiety about death.

Esben hopes that the programs can help open the conversation and make it easier to be in grief when losing.
