Musk attacks Trump’s tax law
A few days after the withdrawal from Washington, Tech billionaire Elon Musk puts his relationship with Donald Trump With violent criticism of a parade project by the US President. Musk attacked the tax and expenditure law promoted by Trump as « disgusting hideousness ». He criticized on his online platform X that the plans would drive up the « already gigantic » budget deficit and the public debt.
The project, which Trump calls the « Great Beautiful Law », made it as the first Congress Chamber in May by the House of Representatives. In the Senate, however, several members of Trump’s Republican Party block themselves. They interfere with the planned raising of the debt upper limit and want higher spending cuts.
Cool reaction from the White House
The White House reacted with a shrug: « The President already knows what Elon Musk thought of this law, » said President spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt. Trump sticks to it.
With the package, it is planned to permanently extend tax relief from Trump’s first term. This should be counter -financed, for example, by cuts in social benefits – which is due to the Democrats of sharp resistance.
For example, the Tech billionaire received support from the democratic Senator Bernie Sanders: « Musk is right, » he also wrote to X. Sanders that the richest Americans would get $ 664 million of tax reliefs and at the same time canceled $ 290 million in eating care of the needy.
« I can’t stand it anymore »
Musk had already criticized the law in the past few days – but in much more reserved words. Last week he « disappointed » that the freemium Doge undergrow the cuts of government expenditure he cited. At the same time, in an interview by the TV station CBS, he said that he was « something in the term » because he did not criticize the government – but also not all of their decisions. Now he initiated his violent criticism with the words: « I’m sorry, but I can’t stand it anymore. »
Musk donated more than $ 250 million for Trump’s election campaign and at times became a close confidante of the president. When withdrawing from Washington, he referred to the rule that contracts of external government employees were limited to 130 days a year. However, there had already been evidence of a weakened influence of Musk in Trump’s environment in recent months.
