Musical ‘Elisabeth’ wins most Musical Awards

The musical Elisabeth was already with 12 nominations in advance The biggest contender At the Musical Awards Gala. The nominee Elisabeth-Actors Milan van Waardenburg and William Spaaij were praised by the press, but did not win. Instead, the prizes in their categories or to Martijn Noort went for his leading role Moulin Rouge! and Darren van der Lek for a supporting role in Shrek.

Most successful producer

A Flemish production about variety artist Josephine Baker, Josephine B.won the prize for best little musical. Practic actor Channah Hewitt also cashed her nomination. In addition, the prize for the best original Dutch musical was awarded to Our Jordaana performance about the residents of the well -known Amsterdam working -class neighborhood. Director Diederik Ebbinge went home with an award for his contribution to this production and the sound design was also awarded.

Out of prices

One of last year’s big winnersproducer Nanoek, now ‘only’ managed to cash in one of her three nominations. The Flemish actor Timo Tembuyser won the Awards for best male leading role in this small musical, The Last Five Years.

In total, the Musical Awards are spread over seven winners. This includes classic Saturday Night Fever and Rob de Nijs-Musical Silly babbe (with six and four nominations respectively) outside the prices.
