MUCUNUS: From Brussels we expect predictability, not a solution at all costs
Plan A is a full EU membership and from that plan the state will not break and there is no doubt about our commitment to the European path. However, what we expect from the Union is predictability, that is, bilateral issues remain bilateral and we do not accept a solution at all costs, Foreign Minister Timco Mucunski said at a joint news conference with his Austrian colleague Beate Mainl-Rajsinger.
Mucunski, a journalist question about messages from EU Council President Antonio Costa, focuses on Plan A and that at a meeting with President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova said that the proposal constitutional changes with delayed action were unacceptable to the Bulgarian side, reiterating that our strategic goal of the EU.
– We are the first country in the region to sign a security and defense partnership with the EU, something that now proves to be very important in the current context. A leader in accordance with the position of senior EU officials in the part of the implementation of the reform agenda that is an integral part of the growth plan. So, we show that Plan A is a full EU membership – Mucunski said.
He reiterated that as a state from Brussels, we expect predictability and bilateral issues to stay away from the accession process and that they are in constant communication with EU officials, dragons, as well as with representatives from Bulgaria, with some meetings formal and some are informal.
– We are looking for a solution that will provide us with predictability of membership, respect for our dignity and identity, the expectation that EU member states will also respect those minority rights principles that we expect to respect. And in this context, if we are all committed to the European path, I believe that a rational solution will always be found that will be acceptable not only to us as a government, but also for all citizens living in the country – Mucunski said.
The minister stressed that as a Government they are not ready to accept concessions that the state will again put in this situation as it is now.
– Our position on this issue is crystal clear, and there should be neither the citizens have a dilemma nor the media. There will always be a dialogue and we will always work, but I will repeat something I constantly say – not the solution at all costs and solutions that will additionally be a risk and stumbling block like this 2022 solution that now proves to be a solution that creates additional problems between states, rather than a step forward – emphasizes Mucunski.
The President of the European Council Costa said yesterday during a visit to Skopje that the Euro -interview process has been going on for a very long time and that now is the time to deliver results. Asked whether there is a Plan B to overcome the demands by Bulgaria, Kosta stressed that the plan should not be underestimated and that we should focus on its delivery. Prime Minister Mickoski, at a joint press conference with Costa, expressed hope that we would unblock this process in the coming period.
