Mucunski – Malmer Stenergard: Support for Macedonian integration and Swedish commitment to continuity in expansion policy
During the visit to Stockholm, Foreign Minister Timco Mucunski had a meeting with his host, the Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Sweden, Maria Malmer Stenergard.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (MRNINT), the meeting discussed several topics, including bilateral relations and opportunities for deepening cooperation in various fields, with emphasis on trade and economic cooperation, the European integration process of the state, as well as European and European regional issues.
Minister Mucunski confirmed the strong partnership and friendly relations between the two countries, expressing gratitude that Sweden is a strong political and bilateral partner. He made a sincere gratitude for the support of the country’s EU integration process, as well as the state and the Swedish people for the rapid and decisive reaction after the fire in Kocani, when some patients were treated in Stockholm.
Mucunski also informed about the country’s reform processes, with particular emphasis on the growth plan, the reform of the justice system and the implementation of European standards.
Minister Stenergard said in a statement from the MNRint, support for Macedonian integration and Sweden’s principled commitment to continuity in enlargement policy was confirmed.
The ministers also exchanged views on the current geopolitical situation in Europe and the Western Balkans region. In this regard, Minister Mucunski emphasized that the Republic of Northern Macedonia will continue to be a factor that promotes well -intentioned engagement, stability, good neighborly relations, open dialogue and active regional cooperation.
During the visit, Minister Mucunski also met with the second deputy chairman of the Swedish Parliament-Rixdag, Julia Kronliff. The meeting was also attended by Yusuf Aydin, a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee.
« The role of parliamentary diplomacy was discussed and there was a shared satisfaction with the parliamentary cooperation in several areas, as well as the successful implementation of the Democratic Development Project among parliaments, which has been contributing to the promotion of cooperation and exchange of good practices for four years, » the statement said.
The minister briefed the interlocutors of the latest aspects of the European integration process and emphasized the important role of Sweden as a principled supporter of EU enlargement. The security situation in Europe was also discussed, highlighting the need for further support for Ukraine and efforts to achieve lasting and just peace.
