Mucunski from Brussels: We must invest more in security

The United States is absolutely right that we European allies in NATO must take more responsibility for peace and stability, Foreign and Foreign Minister Timco Mucinski said today during the second day of a meeting of the Alliance’s diplomat in Brussels.
« Five percent may not be viable overnight, but we have to continue investing in our defense industries, we have to continue investing in our military capacity and that is the right trajectory that we all have to move, » Mucunski said in a statement to US Secretary of State Marko Rubio.
According to Mucunski, it is not about bilateral relations with the United States, but about investment in security, because without it there is no stability and without adequate security and investing in it, not only in Europe, but also in the Indo-Pacific area and in other parts of the world there would be no societies we created.
« It will not be easy and it will be a challenging process, but it is something we all have to direct, » Mucunski said.
Regarding Ukraine, the Macedonian Foreign Minister said that he firmly believes that the current US administration has the right access, aimed at achieving peace with Kiev and all NATO allies in the process.
« I believe that the US government is committed to peace, but as a representative of one of the smaller states on the table, but also a country that is one of the largest donors per capita to Ukraine’s aid, I can say that aid to Ukraine in various forms has always been linked to our defense, Ukrainian defense, but also with peace.
He emphasized that at the celebration of the 76th anniversary of NATO formation, after yesterday’s meeting we can confirm that the Alliance is stronger than ever, which is largely due to the commitment of the administration of US President Donald Trump to achieve peace in Ukraine and our will to do our Ukrainian partners.
-Something that was also positive yesterday, was the engagement of new US colleagues and the opportunity to talk to them about the challenges we have, to support the US administration in the ongoing efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine, but also to engage with our partners in the Indo-Pacific, because Russia is all over, Our security – said Mucuinski.
He added that the presence of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaya Callas is of great importance at the meeting, as the relations between NATO and the European Union are fundamental to the peace and stability of our continent and beyond in the world.
