MPs updated the Financial Supervision Commission with the nominations of Vasil Golemansky

Together with the support of « MRF – a New Beginning » MPs from the ruling majority (GERB, BSP and « There is such a people ») have updated the Financial Supervision Commission with two new members. These are the former MP and Deputy Minister of Energy from « There is such a people » and municipal councilor Plamen Danailov, who is already heading « Insurance Supervision », and lawyer Denitsa Velichkova, who is already heading « Investment Supervision ».

The deputies also voted for a second term of former GERB MP Diana Yordanova, who has led « Insurance Supervision » since 2017.

The vote in the plenary went without debate on the merits of the hearing of the three candidates in the committee. MPs from the Renaissance and Democratic Bulgaria were erected from the rostrum with criticism that the Commission is not active, does not protect the interest of the state and is elected by politicians, therefore not independent.

According to the accounts of the MRF MP – MRF Hasan Ademov, the volume of the non -bank sector is about BGN 50 billion – BGN 26 billion of private pension funds, BGN 12 billion for investment activity and BGN 11 billion in insurers.

New faces

Diana Yordanova, who remains in the Financial Supervision Commission for a second term, was selected in this position at the end of 2017, and has expired for two years. In recent years, she has led other departments because of the lack of deputy chairmen – to this day she has also been responsible for insurance supervision, and within a month in 2019 for the investment. Prior to her entry into the regulator, she was a GERB MP in four parliaments in the period 2011 – 2017. During her hearing in a committee, she emphasized her work on legislative changes to the introduction of so -called multifodes to allow pension companies to invest with varying degrees of consumer contributions.

Plamen Danailov was nominated for the Minister of Finance in the unrealized draft Cabinet of « There is such a people » since 2021. Prior to entering politics with the party of Slavi Trifonov, he has experience in the private sector as a financial manager of the advertising publicis, the pharmaceutical Astrazeneca and the producer of the tile producer

In his published biography, he now states that he is also an adviser to the Minister of Culture Marian Bachev. His listening to a committee focused on the prepared changes in Civil Liability.

Denitsa Velichkova is more unknown than the other two nominations. According to her biography, she has 25 years of experience in the legal sphere, and in the last six years she has been the Secretary General in the financial regulator, with a public procurement guide in her functions. She was the head of the political cabinet of Peter Chobanov during his time as a finance minister in the Oresharski cabinet. Almost at the same time it was part of the Supervisory Board of the Bulgarian Development Bank.
