MPs put Rosen Karadimov at the head of the Competition Commission

With 121 votes GERB, BSP, « There is such a people » and « MRF – A New Beginning » were placed Rosen Karadimov at the head of the key regulator in the country – the Commission for Protection of Competition. Karadimov’s nomination was erected by the BSP in February and created a quake in the then ruling majority (Still with the support of MRF – MRF – ed.). The regulator is one of the key to the business in Bulgaria – he is responsible for controlling public procurement, all major acquisitions or mergers. The Commission is following complaints on unfair competition and is tasked with looking for cartels, monopolies or other abuse of the market position.

The current composition of the CPC was elected during the second term of Borisov in 2016, and at the end of his third coat of arms changed the CPC Act, which extended the mandate of the management from 5 to 7 years. In 2022, the then ruling ones from the four coalition with Prime Minister Kiril Petkov made legislative changes to reduce the term back to 5 years, but the amendments were not accepted and the cabinet resigned.

The chairman of the committee so far was Yulia Nenkova, the mother of GERB MP Alexander Nenkov and a long -time legal expert in the Sofia Municipality during the mandates of Boyko Borisov and Yordanka Fandakova.

A few years later, however, he returned to the BSP orbit as an advisor to Sergei Stanishev’s cabinet. Then his name emerged along the lobbying affair « Hoheger ». In 2012, the former partner of Karadimov, lawyer Deyana Marcheva, claimed to the parliamentary committee investigating the Stanishev cabinet contracts with Hoheger for 1.5 million euros that Karadimov had taken € 30,000 under a contract with the Austrian lobbyist.

He is cited as a frame of Peevski and because of the case of the bankruptcy of Corporate Commercial Bank. In the interrogations of witness Yulia Ilieva, who was a cashier at the companies around the bank, she remembers Rosen Karadimov, who came « every month for 10,000 euros per hand ». Former Prime Minister adviser Sergei Stanishev has been mentioned several times by Tsvetan Vasilev alongside Delyan Peevski as an architect of the digitalisation of the air.

In November 2022 it was brought into the supervision of the State Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB) in the place of the people of the Cabinet « Kiril Petkov ». As Minister, he launched the exotic idea of ​​the bank, created to promote small and medium -sized projects, to grant preferential loans to officials. It was never realized.

In the office « Glavchev » Karadimov was Minister of Innovation and Growth and was responsible for the organization of the elections – he blamed private companies in « will » with the storage of voting machines, and in the hall Kiril Petkov announced the elections for « the most manipulated in our modern history ».
