MPs decided the big road nodes and pedestrian paths to be illuminated

Parliament adopted at first reading four bills for amendments to the Roads Act. Specifying that there will be proposals and refinement of the texts before second reading, the MPs decided to accept all the proposals so that each of them can then be taken into account, BTA reports.

The four bills are of the Council of Ministers, Nikolay Nankov from GERB, Bozhidar Bozhanov from « We continue the change – Democratic Bulgaria » and Kostadin Kostadinov from « Revival ».

With the bill of the leader of the Proimel Party, the state is obliged to put lighting on much of the intersections and road junctions in the country. Amendments to the Spatial Planning Act are also offered, with which pedestrian paths are also illuminated.

The government’s bill aims to harmonize the Bulgarian legislation with a European Directive related to the payment of fees from heavy goods vehicles for road use. New definitions for « use fee » and « toll fee » are being introduced, with external costs for air pollution, congestion and decarbonisation in the toll fee.

The bill of Nikolay Nankov from GERB aims to harmonize the toll cameras with the MoI system, providing access to the registered crossings of road vehicles and photo material to have the electronic toll collection system. It is proposed to the road fee structures to be allowed to require the invoices and to be sent at their own expense and on their behalf.

Bozhidar Bozhanov’s accepted proposals introduce requirements for the protection of personal data in the systems of the Road Infrastructure Agency – the system with census chambers and the toll system. The bill introduces clear what is stored, for what period, when it is destroyed, to which bodies is provided, and in addition to the Customs Agency, access is also given to the Executive Agency « Automobile Administration. For access to the data of a specific person in the system, it is also informed.
