MP Diederik Boomsma wants to become a new NSC party leader

Member of Parliament Diederik Boomsma is going to make a shot at the party leader of the New Social Contract (NSC) party. « I’m going to do it! » He writes in Friday A message on X in which he announces his choice. « I opt for a socio-conservative course: restore authority, respect for our culture, less migration, a serviceable government and a caring, resilient society, » said Boomsma.

The 46-year-old NSC member has been in the Lower House since last year. Before the still young party was founded, Boomsma worked as a party chairman in the Amsterdam City Council on behalf of the CDA.

Since the departure of party founder and former NSC party leader Pieter Omtzigt from politics, Nicolien van Vroonhoven has been leading the party. She was unanimously elected as party leader of the Chamber Group, but it is not clear whether she wants to become the party leader in the upcoming elections in October. Earlier, Van Vroonhoven expressed doubts about her candidate, but it is not yet certain what she will do.

NSC’ers still have until next Saturday, June 14 to apply as a party leader. The party is expected to nominate a party leader next Tuesday. It is not known who else is interested in the position.
