MP accuses administrator of a residential center for elderly elderly woman

The Public Prosecution Service (MP) accused of qualified sloping an administrator of a residential center for the elderly for having, allegedly, diverted more than half a million euros.

In a note, the Porto District Attorney General’s Office (PGDP) says that the MP “considered strongly indicted” that the defendant, between 2013 and 2021, had “abused the powers conferred by power of attorney-however deceased-to his knowledge and against his will, proceeded to the successive movement of bank accounts and financial investments titled” at 83 years.

« Making transfers and drawing checks, allowing you to divert, in your benefit or from third parties, an amount of over 500 thousand euros, » says the note.

In this sense, PGDP explains that “such conduct was only possible by the defendant, through the power of attorney, was able to cancel any communications of bank statements to the offended and end and open new bank accounts”.

« It did so, taking advantage of the already advanced age of the offended (83 years when he joined the home) and his family circumstances (had no direct family members), creating and feeding an apparent relationship of trust over that years, » the same publication says.

The Public Prosecution Service requested in the prosecution the loss in favor of the state of the amounts appropriate by the defendant, without prejudice to the rights of any injuries.
