Moving farewell to killed Fabian (11) in home country Moldova (inland)

In the southeast of Moldova, in the village of Carahasani, on Monday afternoon we said goodbye to Fabian, the boy of 11 who died exactly a week ago after a tragic police collision in a park. He was left to the ground in a white coffin, 2,500 kilometers from Brussels disaster.

Friends with a picture of the eleven -year -old boy, older women from the village with scarves over the hair. With right next to the white open box: the dad, dad and brother of Fabian Ormanji, completely dressed in black. And in the front: a Moldavian priest who put candles and prayed.

In Caharasani, a village of 2,500 souls on the Ukrainian border with Odessa, all the way in the southeast of the country, friends, family and fellow villagers met on Monday afternoon to honor Fabian with a final greeting. In the Biserica Caharasani, the local church, a worship followed. Setent, with many candles, lots of tears and lots of silence.

Week after police drama

After the ceremony, the family was allowed to hug the deceased boy one last time. It provided moving scenes. Afterwards the coffin closed and underground, just a week after Fabian died in a Brussels park in highest dramatic conditions.

The eleven-year-old, who attended the Atheneum Toots Thielemans in the heart of Sint-Jans-Molenbeek, was chased on his electric scooter on Monday in the early evening after a failed police check. In Ganshoren, in the Elizabeth Park, he lost balance. A police combination – who tore over the grass at high speed – could no longer avoid him.

Water cannon and indignation

The death of the Moldavian boy, who has been living in our country for a few years, caused a wave of indignation. Fierce criticism followed the disproportionate action of the agents.

On Thursday the regretted boy already received a farewell ceremony at the scene of the accident. Followed by a two -day car ride for some family members to Moldova.

His death continues to touch Brussels. On Sunday, no fewer than a thousand citizens in the capital gathered for a wake and protest. A manifestation that started with « Justice Pour Fabian » slogans and finally degenerated into protests towards the police. At a certain moment, the tensions with a few hotted heads were high and the police had to use the water cannon. It led to four arrests.

Investigations are on full

The first investigative acts show that the driver of the police combination is 26 years old. A leaked official report about the initial facts issued by RTBF makes it clear that he had not drunk. The young agent is currently at home for medical reasons. The P. Committee, the organ that checks whether or not the police are going beyond her book, has started an investigation. The judicial investigation is at the Brussels Parket, which will give a new state of affairs later this week.

It doesn’t matter much for the Fabian Ormanji family. They buried their young on Monday afternoon, far away from ministers, police chiefs and displeased citizens. 2,500 kilometers from home.
