Mothers’ pension in Germany: When does the expansion come?

Whoever is entitled to an increase in the mother’s pension
In the election campaign and in the coalition negotiations, the CSU had particularly insisted on the expansion. In view of the high costs, the CDU and SPD were skeptical. The core of the expansion is that mothers with children born before 1992 in the future in the future up to three years of educational work in the pension get counted. Not just as a maximum of two and a half years. This means that the mother’s pension will be « completed », according to the coalition agreement, « to ensure the same appreciation and recognition for all mothers. » This is financed from tax funds. The responsible Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (BMAS) expects around five billion euros to expenditure for 2026.
