Mother sentenced to 18 years of imprisonment

The crime was « particularly insidious and unscrupulous », says the chief judge in the murder of Könizbergwald. However, the mother of the eight -year -old victim still claims to be innocent. The Bernese High Court sees it differently and comes to the conclusion: it must have been the mother, writes the « Berner Zeitung ».

The mother had already sentenced the regional court to a lifelong sentence in June 2024. In contrast, this appeal made, the case landed before the higher court.

The mother now also speaks guilty and sentenced her to 18 years of imprisonment. The judgment is not yet final and can be moved to the Federal Supreme Court. That should happen: According to the mother’s defense lawyer, « the guilty verdict cannot be accepted », as he says compared to the « Blick ».

The public prosecutor considers this factor as an indication that the mother wanted to get an alibi with it. What suggests it is the fact that the cell phone has never been unlocked for around an hour.

Motif remains unclear

Another indication is the foundation of the girl. It was discovered in a thicket at a hut of branches that the mother and daughter had built together a week earlier. Only they knew the exact location of the « hiding place », as the mother described it.

According to their investigations, the judges do not assume third perpetrators.

What the mother moved to kill her daughter and how she was going to plan has not yet been clarified. Due to the evidence, the higher court assumes that the mother acted spontaneously. Therefore, the judgment is not life.
