Mother of left behind baby Lucie reports to the police

After a call via the media, the baby of the baby who was found last week along the Scheldt in Pecq reported to the police. It is not yet clear why she left her daughter there. A passer -by found the baby.
The Bergen-Doornik public prosecutor does not want to give details in the interest of mother and child, but confirms that the mom even went to the police. She had seen the police call in the media.
Earlier, Mayor Aurélien Brabant of Pecq, which borders Spiere-Helkijn (West Flanders), had launched a call via social media in which he called on the mum to report. « It’s never too late, » he said.
On Saturday, April 26, 2025 around 4.30 pm a newborn baby was found near the towpath in the rue de l’Ecluse, under the N50 and the Spierekanaal.
On Wednesday, the federal police distributed a call for witnesses in which the mom was also asked to report.

Lucie, who got a name from the Pecq municipal administration, is currently being taken care of by the Social Services. Whether the girl can go quickly to her mom will show the investigation. The most important question is why she left her daughter.
