Mother is in shock: let her son do 1 thing

« When we arrived and asked for a highchair, they said they couldn’t give us one. I said it was no problem, because he didn’t eat in highchair at home – he sits at the table with his brothers, » Renèe told Kidspot.

« He sat quietly for a while, but got up – as little kids now do – and got close to us. »

Renèe did not get the impression that the restaurant was busy. It was early before the rush hour associated with dinner, and the only other guests she remembers were a couple with a six -month -old baby. Ziggy even had a sweet interaction with the baby.

« The father turned around and put the baby on his lap so they could sit and talk to Ziggy. It was so sweet, » Renèe said.

Renèe says they were asked to go because ziggy wasn’t seated. She describes Ziggy’s behavior as ‘calm’ and says he didn’t ‘run around or disturb anyone’ while waiting for the food.

Ziggy had especially shown interest in an artificial potted plant near the table, which he stood and touched. Renèe maintains that Ziggy did nothing wrong. He was neither destructive nor disturbing to other guests.

But still, a servant came to her and ziggy and asked for him to sit.

« The man said that if he can’t be seated, then we can’t serve for you, » Renèe said.

When Renèe had difficulty getting Ziggy to stay on the chair, she chose to leave the place. She was very upset with the experience and therefore chose to share it in a video on social media Tiktok along with a call to people to remember to be friendly.

However, she also explained that the waiter of course could not know how exhausting a day she had had with an active son.

« It’s a reminder that you never know what people are going through at that moment. Such an experience can really be wildly frustrating, » she said in an emotional look.

In the commentary, she named the restaurant: Lemongrass Thai on Teddar Avenue. Kidspot therefore contacted the restaurant and asked to get a comment on the situation.

« The safety of our staff and customers is our highest priority. Our restaurant had just opened for the evening, so even though there were only a few guests present when the family arrived, we were fully booked that night – but we had time to welcome a family of three, » they told the media.

« Before they were placed, we said right away that we do not have high chairs and asked if the mother was okay with it. She said it was okay and that her son could sit on a regular chair. We confirmed it again and she said yes – so we welcomed them. The reason we do not offer high chairs is that we rarely have small children as guests. »

« They were placed by the window near the entrance. The two adults each ordered a glass of champagne. After serving, we asked if they were ready to order food, and they were not yet. Meanwhile, the child went and played with a potted plant in the corner at the entrance, which is quite narrow. »

At that time, more guests and takeaway orders started coming (including from UMEREATS). We got busy. We considered that it could pose a security risk to the child and to the customers who came and went. My father (the owner) therefore went and asked the mother to put the baby down as the restaurant was now getting started. «

« My dad explained that we serve very hot dishes, which can be dangerous if something was to happen. The mother just replied, ‘It’s just a child.’ We then said that if she couldn’t make the baby sit down, we couldn’t serve them until he did.

« Our restaurant is child -friendly. Whether it is a child or an adult, we always take safety seriously. The restaurant is very small, the entrance is narrow and there is not much room to move on – which can be a risk to young children when we get busy. »

Renèe answered the statement and said, « No, it’s not correct – we were clearly asked to leave the place. They said directly that they would not serve to us. »

It was also clear to see that people in the commentary on Renèes Tiktok video were shared. Some supported the restaurant’s decision to give the family the choice to go.

« It was time for restaurants to start doing this, » wrote one user while another wrote, « I have two boys and I agree with the restaurant. »

« As previous serving staff, it is extremely annoying and dangerous to have to carry plates and at the same time avoid children, » wrote a third.

However, there were also a large number of users who chose to take Renèe in defense.

« These comments are wild. Children have the right to exist in the world, and parents have the right to eat out, like all other paying customers, » wrote one user, after which someone else wrote, « Children are just curious and want to explore the world. »

Renèe believes that restaurants should exhibit more patience and kindness when parents have their children out to eat.

« It’s a battle in itself just to have kids out the door before you even reach. I always do my best to make sure my children behave respectfully and safely to both staff and other guests. It’s actually pretty simple, » she said.
