The 400 participants from all over the world will delight throughout the week in different city spaces throughout the week, and most of these events are free.

« I want to announce this show that the international Klaipeda cello festival and the International Cello of David Gering, Klaipėda’s International Cello Competition, is officially started, » Tadas Grabys, director of Klaipeda Concert Hall, told visitors to the café at the end of the concert program.

He also said that throughout the week, every morning, Klaipeda residents will see the performances of the cello -traveling cello in other spaces of the city.

« Klaipeda becomes the capital of the cello, not only in Lithuania but also in Europe. Why do you want to mention that the cello festival is taking place not only in Lithuania but also in other European countries, but we are exceptional because we are the only ones to do both festival and competition at the same time. Samogitians do this, we do it, ”said T. Grabys.

This year’s festival is attended by guests from Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Israeli, Canada and other countries.

« For the first time in the history of organizing the competition, there is a person who has come to Klaipeda with his family with his family. He will compete in one of the categories and try to take the winner’s title, » said T. Grabys.

Of the 53 shows, only 13 are paid. The events will be held in cafes, concert hall, cultural factory, Klaipėda State Musical Theater, Klaipėda Drama Theater and elsewhere.

This week every night at 11:45 p.m. Free shows « quarter before midnight » will take place at Hofas.

This year’s novelty is a cycle of seminars that will take place in Klaipeda County Ieva Simonaitytė Public Library. They will talk about why children need to play musical instruments, how to calm down before climbing the stage.

Another innovation is that this year the cellists will go to various institutions, care houses, kindergartens.
