Moscow: Taurus would make Germany a war party

Russia reacts to a possible delivery of Taurus marching air bodies from Germany to Ukraine with threats. Germany could thus become the War Party, said the speaker of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Sacharova, in Moscow.

If taurus rockets are used against infrastructure goals in Russia, « then this will be seen as a direct participation in Germany in fighting on the part of the Kiev regime, with all consequences for Germany that result from it ».

The CDU chairman and likely new Chancellor Friedrich Merz should consider this, said Sacharova of the state Russian news agency « TASS ».

Merz open for delivery of Taurus

In a television interview, Merz had opened openly to deliver the marching missile with a range of 500 kilometers in consultation with European partners to Ukraine. He also said that destruction of the Russian bridge on the annexed Black Sea Peninsula could use Crimea of Ukraine. Taurus is considered a suitable weapon for this. Former Russian President Dmitri Medvedev insulted Merz for such considerations as « Nazi ».

The outgoing Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) rejected Ukraine’s requests for Taurus during his term. His main argument was also that Moscow would then consider Germany as a war party. The reason is that Bundeswehr soldiers should be involved in target programming. However, this is denied by the manufacturer as by experts.

The SPD wants to continue to avoid such an escalation with Russia, said its general secretary Matthias Miersch. The future black and red coalition had to decide this question together.
