More than 800 conductors detected to use mobile phone in a week
More than 800 conductors were detected to use the mobile phone while driving. The data are from the campaign “At the wheel, the mobile phone can wait” held last week and were released this Wednesday.
In a joint statement, the Public Security Police (PSP), the National Road Security Authority (ANSR) and the Republican National Guard (GNR), reveal that they supervised 5,448,726 vehicles, between May 14 and 20, and detected 25,098 infractions.
Of the 815 infractions related to the misuse of the mobile phone during driving, 797 registered on the continent and 18 in the autonomous regions. Of the offenses, 654 were detected by GNR and 161 by PSP.
As part of this campaign, they were automatically inspected by radar 5,387,981 vehicles, of which 145,011 by the Security Forces (GNR and PSP) and 5,242,970 by Sincro – National Speed Control System, ANSR’s responsibility.
Security forces in person supervised 60,745 vehicles and drivers.
Throughout the Ansr, GNR and PSP campaign, 2,723 accidents were accounted for seven deadly victims, 54 serious injuries and 854 minor injuries.
Accidents with mortal victims occurred in the districts of Aveiro, Santarém and Setúbal.
According to the note, this is the fifth of 11 planned awareness and inspection campaigns under the National Inspection Plan (PNF) of 2025.
By the end of the year will be held six more campaigns, one per month, with actions of awareness and inspection.
