More than 13,000 young people with protection measure in 2024
More than 13,300 children and young people needed a 2024 promotion and protection measure because they are in danger. Most were from cases of neglect and domestic violence, especially young people between 15 and 17.
According to data from the Annual Report on Evaluation of the Protection Committees of Children and Youth (CPCJ), for 2024, presented on Tuesday, 13,373 children and young people needed a measure of promotion and protection.
Among the situations detected last year, there were 5,123 children or young people victims of negligence, 3,969 the target of domestic violence, 2,853 in which danger behaviors were recorded or 2,441 in which their right to education was concerned.
There were also 431 cases of physical abuse and 357 of psychological abuse, 204 sexual abuse crimes, 159 children and youth victims of abandonment and 10 being explored.
Of the total of more than 13,300 children with a protection measure, there were 3,599 young people aged 15 and 17, which does with this one is the age -with, representing 26.9% of the total. Among these 3,599 young people, 1,562 are female and 2,037 of the male gender (56.6%).
Regarding precautionary measures, it states that 1,032 children and young people needed a measure to their advantage and that they have applied 1,037, mostly, “to male children, especially in the ends of zero at 5 years”.
The measures applied by way of precautionary were mainly in the natural means of life (935), against 102 cases that needed to be placed in an institution.
According to what is defined in the Child and Young Protection Act and danger, when a child or young man is in danger, the CPCJ or a court should adopt promotion and protection measures, which may be in the natural means of life (with parents, with another family member, the confidence of an idodic person, support for the autonomy of life or confidence to the person for adoption) or the form of family reception, residential reception (institution) Welcoming family or institution with a view to adoption.
