More than 1,200 protests against Trump announced today
About 1,200 protests across the United States and other parts of the world are planned today, and organizers expect it to be the biggest protest in one day against President Donald Trump and his adviser Ilon Musk, who have stretched the new administration in a conservative direction, US media reported.
A protest called « Hands Off » will give the new government’s opponents the opportunity to express their dissatisfaction with the reshuffle of US internal and foreign policy, said Ezra Levin, one of the founders of the Indivisible group, one of the organizers of the protest.
Protests are planned in all 50 US states, as well as Canada, Britain, Germany, Portugal and Mexico. One of the biggest protests is expected in Washington.
The protests are expected to take part in about 150 activist associations, including the SEIU union with about two million members in the United States and Canada, the human rights campaign, the largest activist association for the rights of LGBTK, Greenpeace and various other groups.
The SEIU union is known for its strong support for democratic candidates, and in 2008 he allocated $ 28 million for Barack Obama’s campaign.
Trump returned to power on January 20, and critics claim he reshaped the government and consolidated the presidential government with a series of measures summarized in the 2025 project, a conservative political initiative. Trump’s supporters welcome his boldness to upset the deep -rooted interests of the opposite, liberal side.
Liz Houston, of the White House Media Relations Office, has denied the organizers’ claims that Trump plans to reduce the services of Medicaid and Social Security.
« President Trump’s position is crystal clear: he will protect Social Security, Medicaid and Mediker for anyone who is entitled to it, » Houston said.
Trump has also been criticized for firing civil servants, deporting illegal immigrants and international students who participated in violent propellant gatherings at universities and revocation of the rights of transgender people given by former President Joe Biden.
The Indivisible Association was formed after Trump’s first win in the 2016 presidential election and worked closely with other ideological close associations such as Moveon and Working Families Party.
