More than a hundred people died in floods in a village in the Democratic Republic of Congo. As official representatives said on Saturday, the inhabitants of the village of Kasaba, which is located in the eastern province of South Kivu on Lake Tanganjika, were surprised by the water on Friday night. There are at least 104 deaths and « significant damage to property, » said the head of the Fizi region, Sammy Kalonji.

According to the district representative Bernard Akili, the Kasaba river, which leads to Lake Tanganjika, had stepped over the shores after heavy rainfall.
