More severe acts of violence with knives and cyber offenses
Criminologist: « There is no world region that can be said: All the machos come from there»
When the crime statistics appear, criminologist Dirk Baier always runs hot. This year special, because the severe acts of violence have increased by almost 20 percent. That also surprised the criminologist. A conversation about the reasons and actually positive numbers.
They are not among the alarmists. But now we don’t have as many crimes as since 2009. This is not a slip, isn’t it?
Dirk Baier: The peak was actually in 2012, after which the numbers dropped until 2020. Since then they have risen again. You can already speak of a trend. And that happened broadly – not only because of the violence and cyber crime, but also because of burglary theft and vehicle thefts. Now we still have to take a closer look at a crime area for crime sectors and find out what is behind it.
I know some who don’t always complete your front door – will it slowly be reckless?
You shouldn’t blame sacrifices. But of course it would be good to educate about risks. It is also about tilted windows and for three days of unbreaking mailboxes that increase the risk of burglary. You can do a lot so as not to experience something like that, because burglaries are very stressful.
