The now 84-year-old Georges went to the Lidl in the Boulevard Zénobe Gramme in Herstal on 1 July 2020, not far from where he lived at the time. Around 12.45 he was ready and went to join the counter. However, it went much too slow for him: Georges pushed everyone aside for him and threw a 20 -euro note towards the cashier before he stormed out of the store with his groceries.
The assistant manager of the Lidl location ran after Georges, but saw the man step in his car and turning around at the roundabout. When the shopkeeper blocked his path, Georges pulled a weapon up, loaded it and shot in the direction of the shopkeeper. Fortunately it turned out to be an alarm gun, but the shopkeeper really thought he was in danger.
« I was attacked during my vacation in Spain and decided to only take my alarm gun with me, so that I could defend myself, » the defense of the suspect sounded.
