More attacks against Palestinians on the West Bank

Eight Palestinians were severely wounded, during a settlement attack in Jinba on Thursday. Shortly afterwards, all the village men were arrested by soldiers. The next day, hundreds of soldiers arrived at the same village in about thirty vehicles, threw shock grenades and broke equipment and decor. Two Swedes in the so -called companion program, Anja Grahn breeds and Pernilla Franklin, witnessed the events.

– The villagers have been ordered to take down all the surveillance cameras that broadcast live to human rights bodies. Without the surveillance, they become even more vulnerable, says Grahn breeds.

The Swedish companions, which collaborate with Palestinian and Israeli observers, often give through their mere presence a certain protection for the vulnerable civilians.

– When we have to move on from a place recently, a woman cried and clinged to our car. She knew that the violent workers prefer places without outside witnesses, says Pernilla Franklin.

Militant settlers in the area have for many years tried to move on Palestinian growers and shepherds in the southwest of Hebron, but only during this Israeli government has this project won wholehearted support from the police and from the occupying power. The settlements’ expansion in the area goes so that they set up so -called « outposts », whose shepherds confront Palestinian shepherds. These are printed back and the settlements expand, a course documented in the Oscar -winning film « No other country » (2024), an Israeli -Palestinian co -production. The film’s Palestinian director Hamdan Bilal was beaten on Monday and ended up in hospital.

The Ecumenical Company Program in Palestine and Israel (Eappi) started in 2002 to protect the civilian population on the West Bank with presence and documentation. Of the 2,000 companions so far, 400 have been Swedes. Sida’s support for the project was recently completed, of all judgments on the initiative of the government.
